  • The drug also decreases aldosterone release that prevents excessive sodium and water retention by the kidneys.

  • Potassium medications: Potassium supplements, salt substitutes containing potassium or potassium sparing water pills like spironolactone, amiloride can drive blood potassium to dangerously high levels.
  • Lithium: Telmisartan can decrease how fast the body eliminates lithium, leading to higher and toxic levels of lithium in the blood.
  • Diuretics: Combining Telma 40 mg with thiazide or loop diuretics like furosemide can cause an excessive or sudden drop in blood pressure.
  • Blood pressure medications: Combining Telma 40 mg with ACE inhibitors (like lisinopril) or direct renin inhibitors (like aliskiren) multiplies the risk of severe hypotension, hyperkalemia, and acute kidney impairment.
