MECHANISM OF ACTIONÂ
- Fluconazole blocks the fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme 14-alpha-demethylase.Â
- This enzyme is essential for converting lanosterol into ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane.Â
- Depletion of ergosterol causes the fungal cell membrane to become abnormally permeable, leading to the leakage of essential components and halting cell growth.Â

CONCLUSIONÂ
AF 150 DT (fluconazole 150 mg) is a triazole antifungal used for vaginal yeast infections, recurrent oral thrush, oesophageal candidiasis, and systemic fungal infections. It can be taken with or without food and is generally well tolerated. Because fluconazole interacts with many drugs, including QT-prolonging medicines, blood thinners, diabetes medicines, statins, immunosuppressants, and hormonal contraceptives, patients should tell their physician about everything they take. They should also avoid alcohol and avoid use during pregnancy unless a physician advises otherwise. Taking your medicine as prescribed and completing the full course gives the best chance of clearing the infection and preventing it from returning.Â
