Types of bacterial infections
- Respiratory: Strep throat, pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, TB, whooping cough caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, M. tuberculosis, and Bordetella pertussis.
- Skin and Soft tissue: Cellulitis impetigo, boils, abscess, MRSA, necrotizing fasciitis caused by Streptococcus aureus, S. pyogenes.
- Gastrointestinal: Food poisoning, typhoid, cholera, H. pylori ulcers, C. diff caused by Salmonella, E. coli, Shigella, vibrio cholerae, H. pylori, C. difficile.

These infections are being caused by the following bacteria’s:
- Gram-positive: Staph, Strep, Enterococcus may infect skin and throat and cause pneumonia.
- Gram-negative: coli, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas may infect UTI and gut and may cause hospital infections.
- Atypical: Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Legionella, this are without cell wall so they may need azithromycin and doxycycline.
- Anaerobes: Clostridium, Bacteroides may affect deep wounds, abscesses and guy.

How is bacterial infection caused?
- It can cause through close contact i.e., coughing, sneezing, kissing, touching and through sexual contact. i.e., TB and chlamydia.
- It can be caused due to contaminated food or water. i.e., Salmonella, E coli, Campylobacter.
- Bacteria can enter through broken skin, staph, and strep i.e., cellulitis and impetigo.
- Bacterial infection also be caused due to animal and insect bites i.e., Bartonella from cat scratch and Lyme from ticks.
- Through environment, i.e., through soil born, water born bacteria’s Legionella can be caused from AC units and Tetanus from rusty nail.
Antibiotics, are the drugs that may kill bacteria or stop them from growing.
They may target the parts of bacterial cells that human cells don’t have. The types of Antibiotics:
